What is Tiger Stay?

Tiger Stay is a program that provides dormitory housing on campus for family members of graduating seniors during the three days of Commencement (Sunday night, May 25, through Wednesday at noon, May 28). The University has a limited number of beds that can be allocated to the program, and housing is not guaranteed. We strongly encourage families to take advantage of the many hotels available along the Route 1 corridor as they are the experts in providing hotel accommodations and amenities to short term guests. We recognize that this option may not be the best for all families so please consider your needs prior to registering. Fees are non-refundable.

What are the typical accommodations like?

Typical accommodations are DORMITORY rooms, which may accommodate one to four guests. These accommodations include a common shared bathroom usually located  in a hallway.

A number of the rooms available are single rooms, and it is possible that parents may be assigned to two different rooms. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL BEDS ARE TWIN-SIZE; THERE

ARE NO FULL, QUEEN, OR KING-SIZE BEDS. Each guest will be provided an extra-long twin bed and a linen package. A linen package includes two sheets, one pillow, one pillowcase, one blanket, and two towels.  Tiger Stay guests will use common bathrooms. Guests should not expect private baths to be available during this period. In addition, New Jersey can be hot in late spring and we cannot guarantee that your room will have air conditioning.

How do I sign up?

Only seniors students can sign up for Tiger Stay. Only one registration request per student is permitted. Online registration will begin at 12:00 pm EST Monday, January 6, 2025,  and will run through Wednesday,  January 15, 2025, at 5:00 pm EST or until the program cap is reached, whichever comes first. We recommend being ready to register when the site opens on January 6th at 12 pm EST, as rooms tend to go quickly. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first- served basis. Confirmations will be sent by early March. The student’s account will be charged shortly after registration is confirmed and will appear on their student account statement.  The student will be notified if the program cap is reached and there are no beds available.

How much does it cost?

The fee to stay on campus in a dormitory room is $130 per person per bed non-refundable, regardless of how many nights the room is needed. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. Accommodations are only available Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights, May 25, May 26, and May 27.  The $130 fee includes linens. A linen package includes two sheets, one pillow, one pillowcase, one blanket, and two towels. Any keycard not returned by June 11th will result in a $35 charge per keycard.

How do I pay for it?

The student’s University account will be charged after registration closes.

If I cancel my reservation, will I get my money back?

No. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds once you have submitted your application.

Can I transfer my reservations to my friends?

No, only those family members registered will receive keycards to their assigned rooms. Proper identification will be required for those picking up keycards.

How many family members can take advantage of Tiger Stay?

Each student is allowed to sign up a maximum of six (6) family members for Tiger Stay. Family members may be assigned to multiple rooms depending on availability of spaces. Small children (age 2 and under) who may sleep in a pack-n-play alongside the bed and do not require a bed should not be included in the student’s guest count.  Should guests choose not to get the additional bed(s) enough space cannot be guaranteed for the additional children.

Do I need to bring my own linens?

No. They will be provided upon arrival and are included in the $130 fee. A linen package includes two sheets, one pillow, one pillowcase, one blanket, and two towels.

Are there accessible dorms available?

We cannot guarantee accessible accommodations. The University has a limited number of accessible rooms in its inventory. Not all rooms have accessible bathrooms. Please note any special needs on the registration form. However, it is strongly encouraged that families with special needs members reserve hotel rooms in the surrounding area, since most dormitories are not well equipped for disabled access. We cannot guarantee air conditioning, handicapped access or a private bathroom to our guests during Tiger Stay.

How will I get confirmation that I am signed up?

You will receive an email within 3 business days after the online form is successfully submitted informing you that your request has been received and will be processed. Final confirmations will be sent out on a rolling basis until capacity is filled and registration closes.

When will my family find out about room assignments?

Tiger Stay room assignments will be issued the day guests check in.
